Paradise Toronto Comicon 2007 Report - Day 3

I'm gonna try this different than the other days.

Captain America by Matt Wagner Captain America by Kaare Andrews Wonder Woman by Niko Henrichon Zatanna by Cary Nord Captain America by Joseph Michael Linsner Captain America by Ty Templeton Captain America by Mike Avon Oeming Captain America by Gail Simone Supergirl by Eric Kim Captain America by Mike Perkins Supergirl by Faith Erin Hicks

So there are the sketches I got on the Sunday. Quite a lot, but most on those Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America #3 Blank Sketch Covers. All of which, I purchased from the All New Comics booth.

Figured, if I post all the sketches, I won't have to go step-by-step of what I did.

Though, I do have to start off by mentioning, Faith Erin Hicks. You may or may not have heard of her, but she was a guest, as part of the Women of Comics II Symposium.

She has a webcomic, that was nominated for a Joe Shuster Award this year, called, Ice. It's something I read the week before the convention, and it's pretty good. Unfortunately, it seems to be on hiatus.

Reason being... (well, I'm just assuming here), she is working on a graphic novel, which will be released by SLG Publishing in November, entitled Zombies Calling (click the ling to preview the book). Something I checked out as well, and I'm really looking forward to this graphic novel.

So yea, check out her work. It's really good!

That said, I put down my sketchpad for a sketch, that I received at the end of the day (last thumbnail above).

Based on the sketches (which are in order of which I received them that day), you can tell who I went to see.

This was more of a day to go around and snap more pictures of the guests, and the happenings around.

The Silent Auction ended at 3pm that day. I put a bid on both Nicola Scott pages of Birds of Prey. One of which I was easily out bidded on out of my range. The next one, it was going well, until Doug Simpson of Paradise Comics raised the price on the one remaining page I was down for (*shakes fist towards Doug*). Nah, it's alright, cause it was all for charity, and I knew I wasn't going to get away with that page for the price I had down. Once ten second hit, I place my bid down, and ended up winning that page.

I ended up having that page also signed by the writer of that issue, Gail Simone.

I didn't really do too much else, other than collect some of those Fallen Son sketch covers. Glad I was able to find Ty Templeton, who I found during one of my random roamings.

I also have to Thank Joseph Michael Linsner and Eva Hopkins for being two of the nicest people I met at the convention, and to Joe, for not only doing the Zatanna piece I picked up the day before, but also, the Fallen Son sketch cover he did for me as well.

Also, Thanks to Mike Perkins for that amazing Ultimate WWII Captain America, and for the Fallen Son sketch cover, after he completed all but one of his sketchlist (he actually did two of those sketch covers, one was for my brother).

Not too long after, the R.A.I.D. jam piece was being auctioned off. The bid was in pretty early, and I'm not too sure if it went any higher, but that was a freakin' steal if it stayed at that price. Hell, even if it went higher.

R.A.I.D. jam piece

Congrats to Kevin Boyd on winning such an amazing piece of art!

Also, infinite Thanks to Kevin Boyd, Peter Fisico, all of the folks at Paradise Conventions, and all of the folks at All New Comics, for putting on such a great event!

To all of the guests, I also send my Thanks out for being there for the fans!

Now, I look into booking a room for the Paradise Cottage Con.

I also leave you with some more pictures.

Jason-- You are THE comcion documenting KIng.

Without you, I'd never see the pictures that remind me what a doofus I am.

And for that, I thank you.
