Boughts and Thoughts - May 13th, 2009

Elephantmen #19 - I did enjoy the last issue (the one I originally bought for the cover). It features beautiful artwork by Canadian creator, Marian Churchland. The issues that she does, are standalone issues, that are more back-stories to the regular stories that have already been told.

House of Mystery #13 - Lucky number 13, which features the debut work of Josh Adams. Nice mix of creators in this issue. Neal Adams, Eric Powell, Sergio Aragones, Matthew Sturges, Bill Willingham, and others. Not a normal title I pick up, and something that I won't be picking up regularly. I just can't seem to get into this series.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 1910 - You know, I still haven't read Black Dossier. I have a copy, but haven't gotten around to opening it up. This one, I did read, and it looks enjoyable.

Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers #1 - Seriously, I bought this for the Karl Kerschl cover. I wanted the Niko Henrichon cover as well, but it wasn't available. Hopefully I can find a copy sometime in the future. Credits seemed quite funny, for Colleen Coover. She's the artist for the "Frog Thor Origin Thingy."

Secret Warriors #4 - Oh yeah, I'm excited. Fury meets with the non-Skrull Dum Dum Dugan. Next issue promises to be action-packed.

Street Fighter II Turbo #6 - Incorporating the Final Fight world, with the Street Fighter world. Dan continues to be hilarious.

Super Friends #15 - I had some idea that this was how the story was going to be, and I still enjoyed it. Fun stuff! Bought it for the J. Bone interiors.

Umbrella Academy: Dallas #6 - Final issue to this mini-series. It was enjoyable. Great stuff by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba.

The Unknown #1 - Couldn't get into the story. I'll try again. I remember the preview, with the bouncer dealing with another employee skimming from the staff, and that caught my attention.

The Unwritten #1 - New Vertigo series, that I decided to check out. For $1, it was hard to pass up. Was a little bored during the beginning, but enjoyable from the midpoint onwards. Let's see if this is one I continue.

The Walking Dead #61 - Interesting turn of events. More deaths. More craziness. More fun!
