Toronto ComiCON Report - February 6th, 2011
The first Toronto con of the year has come and gone. Today was the Winter Toronto ComiCON. The show was a nice one for me. It was also a little more productive for me, than the last con.
I didn't really go into this con with much of a plan for sketches. I had a couple on my mind, and was just going to play the rest, by ear.
Georges Jeanty was the special guest for this convention.
Though, the guest that did catch my eye, when announced, Mike Del Mundo (Joe Shuster Awards Nominee for Outstanding Cover Artist). The name rung a bell, during the time I was doing the weekly releases for the Joe Shuster Awards. It's a name that I remember, from Bright Anvil Studios, back when I started attending cons regularly, in 2004.
With his recent work for Marvel on covers and some interiors, I wanted to get something done by him. Unfortunately, it was something that he wasn't able to get to before the show, or at the show, so I'll post that when I get it.
The next sketch that I was planning on acquiring at the show, is the one posted above, Catwoman by Marcus To.
As I mentioned, I didn't have any other plans for sketches. I did get the one to the left, by Vince Sunico. This was one near the end of my time at the show. It would have been earlier in the day, but the crowd in the early afternoon, prevented me from getting to that area of the room.
Only picked up one book, while at the con. Image Holiday Special 2005. Found it at the All New Comics booth.
After the con, off to Smoke's Poutinerie, for some awesome poutine. Then, to my parents' restaurant, Lucky Bamboo (3175 Rutherford Rd., Vaughan, ON), to pick up some chicken wings for the Super Bowl. Finally, home, to watch a disappointing Super Bowl (I wanted the Pittsburgh Steelers to win).
